The short version.
The early years
In 2001, after leaving an ethically disappointing sales role, I landed a logistics job in an extrusion factory within smelling distance of a sewage treatment plant.
The job involved a lot of manual data entry; transferring entries from one place to another - and although it was a full-time role, I was sure it didn't need to be.
So I got ahead + carved out time to look at efficiencies. Later that week I’d semi-automated everything; my full-time job could now be done in ~20 minutes + with time on my hands I looked for more ways to save time + pain.
In 2003, I started working in business development for a loss-making MedComms agency. Working with the CEO I developed + executed a strategy for turning it around.
Two years later, after helping to turn it into a profitable international business, I left - and later that year started my own consultancy to help more agencies to grow.
One such agency was System Analytic + from 2006 to 2015 I worked with the founder to grow them from a start-up to a multi-million pound business, before they successfully sold a majority shareholding to WPP.
In 2015 I decided it was time to grow my business too; so I found an office + started the journey; it was exciting - but employing folk was a very steep learning curve.
I felt like I was running at full speed 15 hours a day just to stand still; so I implemented systems, tools + tech to keep the team up-to-speed + to reduce manual tasks.
Today I use these experiences to help busy teams to reclaim all the time, money + sanity they lose on pointless work, endless meetings + mindless duplication
